throttle position sensor
me asking questions again ....
read with interest one of the frequently asked questions the other night about the 'tps' so while i was cutting down my can at the workshop today i thought i would investigate where the 'tps' was coming in on my K8.. and surprise surprise it was at just under 4000 revs. so i thought i would have a go at adjusting it only to discover that my bike has 2 tps's... wtf.. i said and promptly decided to give it a miss till i consulted the mighty org. so does anyone know how to adjust with 2 sensors? cheers Bibio |

Re: throttle position sensor
how did you check to see it was at 4000?

Re: throttle position sensor
used the service tool(wire).. them revved the bike till the meter moved from the middle to the top.
i was going to adjust the sensor only to find there are 2 of the exactly the same type on my throttle bodies. one where it should be and one just above it to the left.. both have only one bolt for adjusting/securing... |

Re: throttle position sensor
you can't rev and look when it jumps.you need to keep throttle at same speed couple seconds.try keeping it at 3k revs and see if it jumps up.
one tps per shaft, upper is just choke. |

Quote:
its defiantly 2 tps sensors as they are identical in every respect. unless suzuki have moved the sensor somewhere else. the bike is a K8 with a twin spark head and PAIR system. |

Re: throttle position sensor
KISS...
Your bike is "set" currently to approx 3800rpm, so adjust one to around 2400rpm, then drop it a little more using the other. Strange that they'd have two though... extra cost & all. EDIT: Unless it's like the Kwak Vulcans, one being TPS, the other APS (Throttle Position Sensor vs Accelerator Position Sensor). Try playing with the upper left one, and see if it alters the position the bike perceives the throttle to be at - maybe the K8's are fitted with "fly by wire" throttles? Re: throttle position sensor
there are 2 of them for reason.one(bottom one)on main shaft is for throttle opening.second one is for secondary throttle valve(choke butterfly).
you have basic fuel map that only needs 3 sensors.if nothing would change you would not need any more sensors.those 3 are intake air pressure, crank position and throttle position.all other sensors are basically fine tuning.they tell ECU what is going on and ECU adjusts fuel delivery. so,if your secondary TPS(upper one)is closed it tells ECU motor is cold and ECU lets more fuel in for easier starting.once it warms up tps is open and ECU goes back to basic fuel based on first 3 sensors. ECU can not adjust volume of fuel like how carbs work,it just adjust timing.when and how long. if you move tps out of range it will send wrong info to ECU and your bike will run worse, not better. |
