chain and sprocket replacement
Hi all-Can anyone give me advice on replacement sprockets/chain-would anyone recommend chains with connector link or not ? had one once on an old bike but would like to use again due to ease of replacement-and cost-any views would be welcome. Thanks Peter Haynes

I just put a Renthall chan=in a nd sprokets on mine, happy so far.
Joined the link using a chain tool, personally I'd not ride a spring type clip which the chain also came with. |

The spring clips are fine, Been using them for 27 years without a problem and I've never heard of any problems in all those years.
If you use the rivet type they have to be installed correctly or they will either fall off or you can have a tight link. |

i recently gave my bike an overhaul for summer....
chain and sprockets were replaced. i used a spring clip as a temporary measure........ it didnt come off but the way i see it is, why risk it? some split links will fail, it is very easy to assemble incorrectly or over damage the clip. why even take the chance of the chain binding up the rear wheel when you can get the chain rivetted for (in my case) £5 (even though i gave him a tenner) makes sense, no matter how long some people have ridden on split links. |

It's the eternal question Cue yes it is, no it isn't, for days.
