Exclamation Claims Database

Story first then the point.
Wife wants to change her car insurance, so she gets in touch with Hastingsdirect. They tell her that they cannot give her the best insurance due to the fact that she has a claim on the database.
Now this claim is in fact one done against another drivers insurance as the other person was at fault, so the database should have pointed this out.
The claim should not have affected the wife.
So the wife gets in touch with her current insurance company and after half an hour of trying to explain this to the company they finally agree that they were at fault and it would be corrected. The claim that my wife made against the other person happened over 12 months ago.
So now the point...Anyone who has had an accident on their motorbike caused by another person, but has not claimed against their own insurance but the other persons insurance needs to get in touch with the insurance company to verify that the database has the correct information on it.
If you don't get it checked you may be in for a shock as we were

Default Re: Claims Database

Its not the first time I have heard of this and its stinks! A girl at work received her renewal and it was £500 more than the previous year - When she called it her record showed that someone had made a claim against her and received a full pay out...and she knew nothing about it!! The only incident she knew of was someone reversing into her, no damage to hers, so left it at that!! She contacted a solicitor and the record was immediately updated...more probably out of worry because she could have taken it further!!

I have and never will trust insurance companies when it comes to claims or their trusty database, if it doesnt sound right, it probably isnt and will always challenge!
