Gaming IT question - Medal of Honor, Pacific Assault...
I've just got MOHPA, it loaded OK, however, whenever I try to play the game & press the keys on the keyboard to move, all the action stops completely, or becomes very jerky etc (makes it unplayable really...)
Any ideas whats wrong & what I can do to rectify the situation |

Better graphics card. Or try to turn some of the graphic card settings down in the game options.

Is the sound playing ok, or is that Jerky too? Have you got the latest Graphics card drivers, and DirectX? Check that you have those. What spec is your machine and also ur graphics card? |

Press ctrl+Alt+Delete together, this will give you info about what it running in the background. On there is a tab called Processes click that and you will see a column with CPU and one for Memory usage.
System Idle Process (bottom of the list)should run at around 98% when not really doing anything on the PC, also check for spyware/adware, the mem usage is your RAM, check that you have enough to play the game. |

Not a bad idea to pick up AdAware on general principles, it's free and it's quite good. Can't say that I noticed any difference after removing an embarrassing amount of spyware from mine, mind.

My comp is a P4 3.06Mhz with 1Gb of RAM... The graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9600 - 256 Mb... I've got the latest drivers for everything on my machine too I'll try reducing the resolution & see how that goes (but I get an annoying little pop up on my screen then informing me that the resolution is less than the recommended 1280 x 1024 screen size - that being said, it can't be as annoying as the unplayable game can it ) |

Reducing resolution below native resolution gives you a huge drop in quality, just try turning it all down first.
Also as said above, the AV software may be going a bit mad, disconnect your broadband, shut down AV and try running it again. All that said, at least you didnt go buy Oblivion (had to get a new cpu, motherboard, gfx card and 2gig of ram to run it at native with most stuff turned off !!) Colin |
