Same here, it's quite easy and saves a few quid.

Not concerned about the tyres being aligned?

How do you get rid of the old ones? I got collared trying to dump one at the local tip and was told the only thing I could do was pay a tyre place to take it off me.

I guess each area has it's own recycling policy. Here in Manchester/Cheshire they have seperate bays for tyres on rims and bare tyres, and almost anything else to think of it. It's a bit of a pain sometimes but since they started accepting this stuff fly tipping down the lanes has reduced substantially. They are not tips anymore like we all know, they are recycling centres!!!!!!

If you are a bit wary about doing your own tyres with your expensive new ones just pick up an old wheel with a tyre on and practice on that a few times, it isn't that hard really. Probably the hardest bit is breaking the bead of the old tyre. I just drive over it with the van, i find this is the easiest way.

Balancing also is easy and quite theraputic in a way.

Tyre shops like to make their mark up on selling you tyres so obviously not so happy for you to bring your own internet stuff in for them to fit. Swings & roundabouts, I just fitted a set of Pirrelli Angels got for £150 but Avon Storms are to be had for about the same. It's a big saving doing your own if you get through a couple of changes a year.
