If you do drill it, make sure you beef up the back (the space in the casting) with a custom made ally "washer" to spread the load.

Many have done it, so it is possible. Personally I opted for an N model top yoke.....

your bike your life.

problems: possibility of the bolts ripping through the yoke, doubt it will happen if you do it right but hey you never know. how accurate can you drill the holes? 1mm on the yoke could potentially be 10mm at the bar end so your bars will always be squint.

if you sell the bike later you could potentially be selling someone a death trap. can you live with that?

My top yoke is modified, a machinist friend made a very tight fitting aluminium block to fit into the back webbing. This was bonded into place and once the bond had cured, the yoke was drilled for my risers. The material removed is a tiny amount, but the strength added with the block and the epoxy is significant. By the way, if you do this, don't use epoxy from the pound shop, use a high quality epoxy designed for such a purpose.

I have a Drilled + Reinforced 'S' top yoke, bar riser clamps, standard 'N' handlebar, venhill cables (+65mm) for a bar conversion that I never got round to fitting to my SK9. I can let you have the lot for £120 if your interested.
