Default Is this bloke mad? (ebay seller)

Searching through ebay for bike bargains I came across this 2002 Viffer being sold by someone whoI can only presume is mad. Proper mad. He bought it new, stripped it to the frame on the day he bought it, rebuilt it and has since covered 778 miles on it over the past 7 years. Now he wants £5k for it. It's had 'countless' oil and filter changes even though it's not really been run in.

What am I missing?!

Clearly mad. Another ebay user who has no idea of the value of things.

Just because it's clean and hasn't been used doesn't mean it's worth five grand.

It's a seven year old bike which has stood around a lot and been used for short trips a lot - which means lots of nasty acidic oil being generated, lots of condensation never being burned out of the motor, and most likely, seven year old tyres.

3K, maybe. 5K, never.

To be honest I wasn't necessarily questioning the value of it (although I did think 5k a bit optimistic). I was more thinking of the madness of stripping it on the day he bought it (presumably he paid a pretty penny for it) then he's never used it!

Also mad... if you believe him.

I can actually kind of understand the stripping and sorting bit, certainly if I was to ever get a new bike again I'd go over it and lube all the bits the factory saves 10p on by not doing (classic example being the SV rear caliper pins).

But then I'd do a damn sight more than 778 miles on it, hell at one point I was doing not far off twice that in a month!
