Daylight Running Lights on my Tiger
I have to say that the Tiger is all the bike I could ever want. It's very comfy, even after 400 miles around Kielder in the pi$$ing rain with Dave and Crashy McGee.
It's more than fast enough for me, I know there are plenty of bikes out there that are faster, but not for me. I think it looks really good as well. There are many rumours about a 1200cc Tiger, but even if I won the lottery, I doubt I'd change it. It's all I ever wanted. HOWEVER. The lights are pants. I really mean it. You could hold a candle up in a gale and get more illumination. So, I changed the dip beam for a 35w HID. The bike has projector lens lights, now very bright, but off-axis, very little light. (no scatter for the HID haters) This means that unless you are in the beam of the light, it's just not visable. Still not enough light to be safe, and after having several muppets pull out on me apparently without seeing, I thought about upping the ante. I tried a main beam HID, but the start-up time for the HID arc is a no-no for safety. Back to a normal bulb it was. Then I found www.bikevis.com and their Cree DRL's. Four super bright LED's per unit, waterproof connectors and the build quality appears to be very good. Now I know it's a bit BMS GS - ee, but these DRL's are so bright, they have to be seen to be believed. They wire direct into the battery via a control box that senses the engine running to turn them on. They stay on for 30 seconds after engine off, but they draw so little current, it makes no odds. I've tried to photo them, but the pics don't do them justice. 35w HID dip beam and DRL's With main beam I copied the mount from the Touratech lights, no drilling or changing stock parts. Just need to get out somewhere dark and set up the angle of dangle. And, as a plus point, I've got a voucher code for a tenner off putting them at £50. If anyone wants a set, I'll PM the link. Pete |

Cool they look good. I quite fancy one of the bullet v2's, since I don't technically have a sidelight
Have you tried your indi's with them switched on? They look quite close together |

Re: Daylight Running Lights on my Tiger
I cant see on their website the exact item you have, I look at pods but just see pictures of strips, priced £50
I'm interested in a pair and fitting one to each of my trail bikes. |

Re: Daylight Running Lights on my Tiger
ooo, wont fit where I had in mind as it would foul the headlamp, but I'll find somewhere.
Also, what would it be like as a torch? I have plenty of 12v mini batts, and often have to crawl about under floors and in voids, maybe dual use.. Anyway, would love to try a set out, any chance of the voucher code link Ahh, just seen a problem, they need a controller box, and you only get one. Last edited by tigersaw; 08-09-11 at 09:34 PM. |
