hey all,
I've got an 52 plate svs and its getting a bit corroded etc So just about to change bolts etc from probolt and thought I would upgrade the brake lines as well as the fittings are corroded. what are the best ones to get?? |

Re: brake lines....
HEL or Goodridge have always worked well for me. Though to be honest any steel braided lines will feel better. Athough that's arguably more down to fresh fluid.

Re: brake lines....
I always go for the race setup: Two lines from the master cylinder, one to each caliper. Not sure if you can get any other setup with aftermarket lines tbh.
Are you doing the rear too? (I wouldn't bother unless you want it for the looks) |

Re: brake lines....
Go for braided lines with a race set-up (two lines) and stainless banjo bolts.
The benefit of braided lines isn't really much, they last longer and don't bulge like rubber lines do when the age. Last edited by Dangerous Dave; 02-01-09 at 06:48 PM. Reason: Rear Brake Line Pictures |

Clear coating with stainless fittings. Make your job easier and get some speed bleed nipples too. Might have to get them from Demon tweaks though. |

Re: brake lines....
quick but silly q but how much longer do braided last compared to rubber lines (i.e service manual says 4 years to replace do they last longer or not?)

Re: brake lines....
4 years to replace brake lines. I'd never heard that before and never know anyone do it before either. I suppose braided lines would last longer as the braiding stops the rubber from expanding against the pressure of the system.

Re: brake lines.
Braided will last longer, the braiding prevents the rubber hose from swelling and deforming. Rubber hoses have a service limit, they need replaying after a certain amount of years, as do Braided lines but they last more than twice as long (I have a set of eight year old braided lines fitted to a SV).
