Lol, I think the K9's are striking back! This has been occupying the threads since last week. Loads of advice on here. Check the wiring from the sensor, check the rotor, check the housing, check the wiring to the engine etc etc. Your problem is my problem and I've now resolved to getting the wheel off to check the rotor (speed sensor rotor in the front wheel). Of course, i'll post to say if its a success ... or not.

I had the opposite on my K3 - the speedo read random speeds all the time EXCEPT the actual speed I was doing. Occasionally I'd be supposedly doing 127mph in my driveway.

Turned out to be the speedo rotor in the front wheel, crumbled. Hope you find an easy fix.

First port of call is the Rotor in the front wheel , those buggers break very easily , much to the point that I grabbed 2 cheap spares when I saw them .

Well I had the wheel off and checked the rotor. Perfect condition. Checked the main wire for snagging/damage. Nothing. Next step is to check the rest of the connection. But this is doing my head in. Odometer not working either. Put on another 2/300 miles since this problem.

Speed sensor also looks in good condition. Would be grateful for any other suggestions.

I had a problem like that , on the right hand side is a set of wires , just under the tank , I used to juggle my hand in there somewhere and the speedo would fire up again for a few days

My rotor packed up today, I noticed that the tabs were broken some time ago and repaired it with epoxy glue. Found this week that the tabs had broken again, but hoped that I could get away with it. No such luck. No speedo now. Any idea where I can get a cheap K3 rotor from before I annoy the Brother in law? Actually, is there an upgrade part that is not made of cheese? Living in hope... Cheers

I wonder if one could be turned from nylon and then have the tabs epoxied into them for the reader ?
