Curvy header issue

Hi I know I'm new here and I've tried searching but so far I've drawn a blank.
Just got my curvy and love it however when cleaning it earlier I noticed that a sort of flange around the front header that used to be part of the block is no longer attached. Is this as bad as it first seems?

If the exhaust isnt leaking, then dont worry about it too much. Part of the casting has cracked and broken off, maybe someone lumped it with a hammer at some point?

If at some point you remove the exhaust or it gets worse, then get it fixed, it'll need someone with specialist welding kit.

Those ehaust header nuts look like they are going to be a ******* to get off without breaking the studs off, a common problem. If it aint broke leave alone, but you could get both done at the same time in the future.

It's been like that for a long time by the look of it, far more of a headache to sort than it's causing at the moment. Leave well alone and don't worry about it, it doesn't look as if anything is going to fall off any time soon.

i have this problem with the front header nuts on my curvy and like the guy's have said, leave well alone until need be.do what i have done and clean all parts up and paint with heat resistant paint to protect from further corrosion.

Nice one guys thanks for your help. Think I'll just clean up what is there and leave it alone. If one day I need to change the headers then I'll look to get it fixed.

The pipe corrodes, expands and splits the collar - not unusual.

As long as the bit of the head where the gasket seats is still (I've not seen one that isn't) it's fine - if unsightly.

Thanks Sid, the bike flew thorough the MOT and I've had a check over it seems to be perfectly sealed. Just,going to clean it up a bit and just keep my eye on it as time goes on.
