I read that Matt LeBlanc said he would resign if Chris Evans didn't stop treating his colleagues like s**t. Bizarre really when you consider what they got rid of Clarkson for. Hey ho, perhaps they will do better next time.

I only saw a few minutes of this series but Evans voice was awful. He's much better geeking off on TFI Friday than trying to review a car. Also, very difficult not to sound like Clarkson when using a bit of dry humour in the review.

Just watched the last episode of the series last night and it looks like they've actually got the formula correct. Apart from the star in a rally car segment, which I skipped. Evans has toned it down a lot and his piece about the modern classics was really good. Not sad to see him leave but would still watch it if he stayed.
I like the fact it's a car program again. A lot of people will find it boring and ratings will suffer but I'm a car geek so I love it.

Understandable. I will give it another chance on the strength of him leaving, but I heard that a 'whole new line-up' is going to be used - Mat LeBlanc going too?

Top Gear desperately needs to be rested for a year or two, then brought back in a new format. It was already stale with the old line up,kept alive by Clarksons brushes with controversy, but it was well past its sell by date.Too much money at stake I presume.

I agree BB, although the 'specials' did bring a different dynamic which attracted a lot of new viewers over the years. My wife for instance, has no interest in the latest AMG but really liked the Last of the Summer Wine adventures the cheeky 3 got up to. I did too. Not sure they can reproduce that so giving it a couple of years off might do it a favour in the long run

It is all about the money for sure you are right. The BBC is desperate to keep milking the cash-cow, but they have picked a right lame bunch instead of going for a controversial presenter like they had with Clarkson, with the foils of May and Hammond. I laughed when they offered it to Guy Martin and he turned them down.

Maybe Al Murray?

Johnny Vaughan might be as equally controversial, if he's still as bad as he used to be on breakfast telly.
