Non starter - help
Hi All,
i hear you guys are the mecca of SV problem solving. Hope you can help. i've got myself a K2 nekid which i've had for a few years and i've recently left it standidn for about 2 months. went to start it = nowt. Removed battery, clipped on me optimizer - did the biz, try a again, click wirrr - click click click. When the battery is fully charged it will turn the engine perhaps half a rotation then its back to listening the the starter relay clicking (i think thats what it is - the one under the right hand seat panel with the green cap over the leads). as it clicks my odometer disappears, and my dash lights fade. Have removed the starter motor and it seems fairly free, have also checked that the gears that the starter motor "meets" move nicely, they do in one direction and not in the other - just like the haynes manual says. Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated - i'm at a loss. Regards and thanks Rich |

Re: Non starter - heeeelp!!
Dunno, maybe the battery is knackered and won't hold enough charge??

DIZZLE!!!!
Lissa and I reckon the problem is simple............... Ride your bike more! Seriously mate, sorry to hear about the probs. My first thought is knackered battery too. Enough charge to get the solenoid clicking but not enough to turn that beast of an engine over. Have you tried jump starting it from your car? Pete |

Have thought about jumping from the car, is it safe to do so?? your bound to have a battery recommendation - how many miles on that beastie of yours now?, and have you finally admitted to the 1000cc transplant we all know you've got in there Rich |

Re: Non starter - heeeelp!!
Dizz, me darling', how lovely to see you again.................even if only virtually! WMR isn't playing up, MSN is being it's usual crappy self
Bet that little bouncer of yours is running you ragged We've sold on our original SV to a friend, but that is still on it's first battery after 6 years and 50,000 odd miles. Have a second SV now, but have kept all the blue plastics and trick bits...................I didn't want a yellow one Jump starting should be fine as long as you take the usual precautions and make sure the leads don't touch the frame. 1000cc conversion? Us? Why do people never believe us when we deny it?
