Voting question 2010
Hi,
Just wondering which party is lowering tax credits? I know conservitives and liberal are saying they are going to scrap tax credits for the top 20% of earners (who-ever they maybe) but not sure if/who has said they are lowering/scraping all together? |

Re: Voting question 2010
What they say is one thing
What they will actually be required to do in order to reign in the shambles that is the UK finances is a completely different matter

Re: Voting question 2010
I don't think anyone is planning to lower them. As you say, there are plans to change who's entitled to them.
Tax Credits....... another Labour shambles. They have to be applied for every year and those who need them most can be, in some cases, those least able to apply for them. And there's a who govt beurocracy devoted to administering them. Why not just cut tax for those on low incomes and save money on administering them? Oh, sorry, silly me. That would involve reducing the size of govt and the Civil Service. Labour = Big Govt |

Re: Voting question 2010
From last nights BBC report on the subject, both Con and Lib are planning cuts to the child tax credits, but are intending to use the money to fund another cut elsewhere - Cons to prevent the national insurance rise, and Lib to fund their raising of the income tax threshold.
As the eternally lost one said though, whether they actually can when they see the true state of GB plc might be a different matter. |

Re: Voting question 2010
I think i'm the same as everyone else in the fact that I don't want the economy to fall but at the same time my families finances are top priority over the countries economy so as my wife will be on maternity leave soon and is self employed will rely on child tax credits (not working tax credits) so i'll be voting for the party who is going to cut from else where.

Re: Voting question 2010
But where do you think your finances will be left if the economy does collapse?
