Is there a rev limiter on the 99 SV650S?

Yes! It comes in about 500 rpm after the red line. I hit it once by accident. It is not too harsh when you hit it, but you "know" when you have.

Great, i thought there was one. I was accelerating hard yesterday in 1st gear and the bike just lost power. Being a cager who tends to tag the limiter in the car quite often, I instinctively upshifted.

But I wasn't sure if it was the limiter because its carby.

I used to frequently hit it when I had the ART race can but with the original its more difficult.

Having ported and gas flowed the heads, as well as some other work, my bike don't have any power drop off at all, before the limiter kicks in and I quite often hit it.

Cheers Mark.
