Track day tyres

Have bought a pair of Avon Viper Super Sports, has anyone used them ?
ive been told there a good track tyre, or are the Pirelli Supercorsa better ?

All a matter of preference really.

Most minitwins riders use Pirelli Supercorsa Pro tyres with good results.

Most likely the main thing you need to consider is the speed at which they come up to temperature and give you grip. If you are a relatively slow rider (most will be compared to racing pace) then some more race focussed tyres may not give you as much grip at lower temperature as you need to raise your confidence, slowing you even further.

I use Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro super soft compound tyres along with 30 mins preheating in tyre warmers, very very grippy if you push them and keep them up to temperature. On a cold day or damp track they can get a little slippy though. You may want to consider something like Dunlop D208RRs as they provide more of an all round performance in different weather conditions.

If I was going to do a trackday I'd be looking for some raced supercorsas with a bit of meat left. Doubt they'll be as good as the avons as they'll have lost profile and have been heat cycled a bit... but they'll be a sight cheaper.

Hi Mike, I'd be happy using your Avon Supersports. I've got the standard Viper Sports on at the moment and there's more than enough grip.
