Default Ride Magazine & Adverts

Is it just me or do all the advertising stickers plastered over every used bike between it's covers p**s you off?

Don't they have enough friends to borrow the bikes off? or do they have shares in Planetbikes.com? I bought it today because it has some SV stuff in and its bad enough that half the magazine is adverts anyway but then to sneak them into the articles too

I know what you mean but money makes the world go round and the bikes shops have got to have a good reason for lending the magazine the bike in the first place.

Well... It's pretty funny when they get lent a used bike and absolutely slate it... "This one's a state, DK are selling it for £3000 but it's not worth half that"

I agree some dealerships can go over the top.

We've lent a few bikes out in the past, and only sticker it up with our website on either the tank or tailend.

It's a bit of a hit or miss situation really. They rarely mention any details of the dealership in the article, so the exposure is minimal, and your reputation can ride on the bike you've lent out.

If it gets slated the whole thing is a bit of a downer, and you often don't know what the particular bike is going to be up against.

They can hammer them too. We've had one returned (by Bike I think) that had been ragged to hell and back - decent tyres turned into slicks by the time they were done. Maybe they were doing a 'burnout' test that never made it into print!
