Default Coolant leak LHS

Hello everyone,
My 2001 model SV650S seems to have developed a coolant leak on the LHS. It's a small amount coming from one of the engine casing bolts. I noticed that the all of these bolts have a metal washer, except the 2 most forward. I looked at another SV & sure enough it was the same story.

Of course the leak is coming from one of these washer-less bolts. Has anyone else here experienced the same thing? Is the fix as simple as whipping the bolt out & putting a washer in? Should I use a fibre or metal washer?

I've had the bike for years & this is a first.

Cheers
Tex

PS. Just so we're clear, when I say LHS, I mean same side as the gear change
