Road legal... Can't see any particular reason why not. A good idea? I'd doubt it

IIRC they didn't used to be, I think it was perceived they they would split easier and become a fire risk in an accident.

My 1970s Rickman has a steel tank with a fifreglass dummy cover.I believe they did this as fibreglass tanks were illegal then.Don't know if that has changed sinse.

Don't know about bikes, but I think they are OK for cars,Lotus used them on some of their older cars!

Most modern cars use plastics as they crumple better in accidents, lighter in weight etc.

The ones on bikes are made from same plastic, think it's ABS.

Fibre-glass CAN be pourous IF poorly manufactured and tends to crack in impacts!

Burns well too!

They used to be illegal in the UK, but not other parts of the world - I don't know if that's changed.

Do you mean actual fibreglass or composite as in non-metalic Most new sports bikes have non-metalic tanks and it is common on several makes after about 2000 in there other models also Lighter and don't rust but no good for a magnetic tank bag

Fibre glass tanks have to be internally lined with a membrane (well that used to be the case for racing).

Cheers Mark.
