Default weekend in the lake district

Hi.
Having spend all my time in england, in London, it is sort of getting a bit to me.

Having spent most my life in a rubbish little town 100km north of the artic circle surounded by woods and open countryside, im sort of suffocating a bit from all the concrete (no im not a hillbilly or what have you!).

Anyway, so i was thinking it would be nice to go up to the lake district.
Ive been told it's nice and not so much concrete and tall buildings there.

Anyone know if it's good this time a year (seeing that i don't really care about the cold).
Is it possible to do some fishing, renting a cabbin and possibly a small boat?

God, i do sound like a farmers son, don't i?

The Lakes are great no matter what time of year you go. PM Amarko, I'm sure he will be able to give you some more information mate. I hope you chill and have a nice time.

Yup.. Ill second that motion.

However, was just speaking to one of our clients over in Cumbria... and the forecast this weekend is heavy rain. So perhaps not the best weekend to go over.

I will skip the lake district then, and just try to find a lake where i can rent a boat for a day or two.

anyone can recommend anything? not to far north.
Someone said that northamptonshire would have a lake, but i can't find anything about renting a boat.

If anyone has any ideas they are welcome.

absolutely glorious sunshine here tha last 2 days

if your looking for a cabin and a lake + a lot off swimming pools then a good base could be the oasis complex at penrith a lot of people use this as a base to tour the lakes

http://www.craketreesmanor.co.uk/ - Near Windermere, Kendal and Penrith. We went to carlisle for a day and went to see Hadrians wall too.

Stayed here with the Mrs between xmas and new year to escape our families!

The farmouse is really nice, family run affair. The accomodation either in the farmhouse (were you can have the run of a lounge area and dining area sort of open plan) or in a converted barn - we stayed in a double room, massive bath and kitchen area. Breakfast was brilliant and the hostess was a really nice lady. We will definately be escaping up there again!
