To answer the second part of your question, Lydden isn't a bad place to start as a Novice, plus it's got a long right hander. Fairly short circuit so easy to learn the basics, none of the turn in's are stupidly fast so if you make a mistake there's opportunity to put it right before you run off the track (providing you don't panic) and most of the bends are actually a whole lot faster than they look, which stops you getting bored if you're a fast learner. And it's still relatively cheap.......

As a complete novice I did Snetterton first on a BMW day "better rider day" generally it has good open views, so you know what is coming up, but it is a long track. So you won't get as many 'goes' at the corners you like over the session. I've been to Cadwell a couple of times since, and to me, the track is more involved, feels like a wide country road and was more fun.

Rockingham is a good one to start, go for the national not International, the former is the same as the latter but without the pointless bit of oval tacked on. None of it is really fast, but it's wide and grippy, and as said it has a couple of good left handers. Silverstone is a great track but much faster, try to book one of their days instead of a track day company if you can. Cadwell/Oulton are a lot of fun but quite technical, blind corners etc. There's Mallory, surely that has the longest bend in the world, it's a bit of a dull track otherwise though TBH.

Depends on how you ride it, IMO. Holding onto the bigger bikes around Gerard's and then outbraking 4 or 5 into Edwina's is rather fun. And as it is so short, you get plenty of opportunities to improve each section.
I have done enough days there to know exactly which gear to be in at every point, which allows my little brain to concentrate on other things.
