Default Need any technical advice?

Hi folks, I've recently moved myself and my business to Mansfield Notts having finally had enough of the southeast So if anyone needs a bit of technical info please feel free to contact me either on here or via my website.......Also as I miss the banter/p...taking that I used to have with my regulars, so anyone wishing to pop in to the workshop will be more than welcome....The kettle is always hot & I'll get an excuse to stop swinging the spanners for a while

Welcome to the site Spannerman... I presume you've had permission from site admin to advertise your business on the site

Permission or not... what is truly irritating is that his miserable site totally steals your browser's focus.

The first (and last) time I went there it closed all open tabs (on netscape), effectively closing all open sites that I was logged into, resized my browser, took away the tool bar, took away the browser recent history, and anything else that would enable you to escape the site... even Alt-back is disabled...

madEG, what the hell was all that about

Apart from the advertising question, I have visited the site and it works fine for me and hasn't done anything it shouldn't.

Uhh... Other than being sick and very grumpy today, when I hit that link with netscape I got all the aforementioned effects - causing me to Alt-F4 the browser to get back to a state where I could continue browsing the SV forum.

I just tested with IE and got much of the same...

Maybe I need more cold medicine... (or maybe less...)

The site's code forces the browser to resize to 800x600, which is quite weird really. It's also completely Flash driven, which is (in my professional opinion) pointless. Doesn't give a problem with IE6 but might do in other browsers but I can't be bothered to test it. At least there are no porn pop-ups.

If Spannerman is an SV rider then I don't have a problem with a little low-key friendly advertising if he's going to be part of the community. But if there's no SV connection then yes I do as this is firstly and foremost an SV forum and any trade services should be approved by the site's admin in the first instance.

Ok, upon more level headed consideration I realized I was being a pr*ck.

I was composing an email to a univ. professor [who returned to me a grade on a paper I didn't expect] in one of the tabs of the browser that I was also using to view the sv forum/site. So, Spannerman, when your site closed all the tabs on the [ns7.1] browser I lost the email that I was working on. [which I obviously should have had in a txt editor if it was so important] ...and well, I Kirked out.

Welcome to the site. I suspect you'll find quite a few more level headed people here than me.
