Default My new (to me) SV650

I sold my last bike (1999 Yellow SVS) in 2003 and I have not had a bike since. I wasa on here (well the old site) a lot back then.
I bought this a hour ago.
It is high-ish mileage (32K) and is a bit neglected, but it runs and rides.

Problems so far include Rev counter face peeling away, cracked speedo glass, leaking front oil seals, oil leak onto exhaust under the engine, bloody hard work to get into neutral, brakes dragging, electrical fault where the tail light is wired permanently on with ignition due to a wiring fault.
I'm sure there is more, but I'm thinking that a full stripdown is required.

1st question. Can I replaced the rev counter and speedo with a later one, the more electronic one?

I doubt you can - the 1999 tach connects directly to one of the HT coils, but it looks like everything goes through the ECU on the newer models.

If you're desperate for a tach face, I have one in a pretty good condition which I no longer need. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you a photo.

Good luck with it all!

Maviczap - Thank you for your welcome.

Daktulos - Thank you for the information. I have bought a Haynes Manual covering both models so I can compare the wiring diagrams. And yes, please send me a photo. Thanks.

I've uploaded a photo of it here:

Let me know how much you think it's worth.

Alternatively, you may also want to look here for a sticker you can use:
