Loss of power - Curvy.
**Last season i had the R/S and battery changed.
**This season i pulled apart the two carburetors, cleaned them and reassembled them with a professional. Bike was running very fine, maybe a few pops when i was decelerating or downshifting... Last week i did some speeding, pulled to 180kph a few times.. Then i was cruising at about 130 and suddenly i lost power and the rpm went to 0, then a second later returned to 6k. Did that every 30 seconds or so until i left the highway. Then the Rpm needle just drooped to 0 and wouldn't go higher. Sounded like i was running on 1 cylinder as well, made a very nasty noise and i felt the engine was weak. So i got home, was pretty lucky. Next morning it started just fine but still made that weird noise and stalled, or the muffler was shaking like it had a hard time shooting its air, on idle. I checked the wiring , fuse and removed the air-box, added some gasoline additives.. its running just a lil bit smoother but its still a total mess. I linked 2 videos, please have a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4cwVWgnMSM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RANuXsrsGmY |

I have the repair manual, is it safe for a beginner to try and replace the plugs ? Last edited by juliensc; 17-08-13 at 11:08 PM. |

Re: Nightmare... Electrical? mechanical? Help!
My first guess would be electrical, and the front cylinder. The clue is in the rev counter going to zero. The rev counter gets it's readings from the front ignition coil (it just counts the times it sees the signal to spark). If the connection to the coil is loose, bad, or not being generated by the ignition unit in the tail then you end up on one cylinder. Get the tank up, and check the connections to the front coil on the left side of the frame by the air box
