I could gripe about the bill we've ran up in the Applecross Inn, the petrol prices in Applecross (which turned out to be identical to everywhere on the west coast), the wife terrified when she looked to the side of the Bealach Na Ba road (told her not to look), the tarmac melting, surface dresing...

But no, had a fantastic 400 mile weekend in scorching sun, ate the best food ever, honestly visit the Applecross Inn...

Very pleasant half day in Newtown today. Had to take the Zafira in for an outstanding recall so I went in with the instrument (button accordeon) with the intention of playing some tunes at the market. 45 minutes in and Cornelius, an old fiddle playing friend arrived so we spent an enjoyable hour playing tunes together. Then another old friend turned up and dragged me off for a very pleasant coffee, cake, and catch up. Just as he left, FiL arrived so more tea and chat ensued.
Rounded it off with with a few more tunes with Cornelius before going to collect my car.

I even earned enough to cover all my food, drink, and fuel costs. Bonus!

Absolutely! Just the lift I needed, especially after yesterday evening's episode.

Drove to yoga, empty roads. Only one other person turned up to class so we had a nice relaxing session. Then drove home just as the final penalty was being taken so I missed all the nonsense and just heard the fun bit.

A faint smell of burning coal in the air. Bit of an odd one to smile about perhaps, especially given the heatwave, but it means some survivors of Victorian engineering are heading to a field about five miles from here. They will be causing chaos on the roads if they're under their own steam (smells suggest they are) especially when they attempt the road up to Cryers Hill. Will pop along to The Prestwood Steam Fair on Saturday to see them.
