Think yourself lucky Trev. When I was contracting, I twice went a year between contracts. You get new hobbies.

How much do you charge for cooking and emptying dishwashers? See my earlier post.

Phil Collins coming out of retirement. Surely there should be a law against it.

Virgin media increasing my contract amount, 3 months in to a 12 month contract to a higher price than they are advertising the same package for. Surely a contract should be unchangeable by both parties

I thought you get a break clause if that happens.

To be honest there isn't another provider I could go to who is cheaper. They shouldn't be able to just up the price to whatever they want though

People at work who expect you to continue using software on the basis of "it used to be the best software for the job"

Handing out memos and faxing documents used to be the best too. Please let us use the best software and apps.

People at work demanding the latest tech.

We have over 100,000 employees worldwide. Allowing one part of the organisation to change tools can render the processes in another part incompatible. Therefore we co-ordinate and move when all are capable of using a tool.

Good examples are we need to use certified hardware platforms for engineering tools. Latest workstation hardware requires new OS versions not certified for the applications. But if we upgrade the application for a batch of 10 new workstations over 4000 users need their apps upgrading in order to be compatible with their peers. But their existing hardware is not certified by the app providers so we have to give them an unbudgeted upgrade. Ain't going to happen. So recycle old hardware to the 10 who need workstations.

But, we do plan huge role outs and everyone moves. and those with incompatible platforms are upgraded. But not simply because a few want the latest wizz bang.

i'm buying a KODI box to see how it goes with Mrs B. if its not too confusing for her then i'll be dumping the TV package at the end of my contract.

if the KODI box is not suitable i'll be getting freeview and still dumping the TV package. Mrs B only watches a few TV stations and i watch on occasion about two as the rest of the time i'm watching films.

if it were not for Virgin having the best broadband i would dump them completely.
