Fork Upgrade Plans, Your opinions on my plan of action.

First Post, Like to say Howdy from the Colonies to everybody....

I'm on here getting info to help my brother-in-law upgrade his 08 SV650.


List of Mods already ordered or installed

M4 High Sport Full System Carbon Fiber Can/Nose Cone
PCIII
BMC Air Filter
Flush Mount Turn Signals
Fender Eliminator
Pilot Road 2 Tires


I bought a used 06 ZX10r Rear shock and now I'm intending on upgrading the forks.


THE PLAN: (let me know of anything you'd change or if it all looks sound)
170 lb Rider


Traxxion Drop In Emulators and Dampening Rods http://traxxion.com/detail-65.aspx

10w Oil.


Am I on the right track? Anything you'd change?

have you considered using racetech emulators and modifying the damper rods yourself? might save you a few bucks compared to the traxxion damper rods and emulators http://www.racetech.com/page.aspx?id=53&menuid=61

and is 10W definitely the recommended weight oil to use with the emulators? that's the standard weight in the sv isn't it, always thought it was a bit thin. Think a lot of folks will try slightly heavier stuff.

if traxxion rods are used than oil weight can be thinner (10W).
with stock rods you end up with 15 or 20 oil.
thinner oil is better due to less sensitivity to outside temperature.
btw. I have set of used .80 springs and set of new traxxion rods I would like to sell.
however .80 may be little light for 170# rider. I would use at least .85 for street or .90 for aggressive or track riding.
