Ha ha! I won’t be growing the quantity I would normally do Adam, as this is only temporary until I either get the tenancy back on my home or have to find somewhere else more permanent. I will be doing stuff like tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes etc. Mostly the quick, easy, summer crops.

Thanks chaps. The move begins on Monday. I shall be glad to get it done as it feels a bit weird and quite sad to be sat in a house full of boxes as everything is gradually packed away. I also want to get into the new accommodation ASAP so that I can get seeds sown and veg beds ready.

That was a really traumatic week. The dismantling and storage of 25 years of the most meaningful part of my life.

On Thursday while moving a large shelved sideboard I found some odds and ends that had fallen down behind it years ago. One piece was a home made birthday card put together by my ex wife and from my then 2 year old daughters. It had on it a coloured hand and foot print from each of the girls. It was a shock finding it and bloody nearly broke me.

Handed the keys back this afternoon, breaks my heart to leave that wonderful fruit and veg garden, the result of quarter of a century of toil and effort.

I'm fortunate to be where I am here in the new dwelling and all thanks to the real generosity of spirit of my friends who own the smallholding here.

I shall try and unwind a bit now.

The shabby house is now not happening as I have been offered, and accepted somewhere absolutely ideal. A couple of Quaker friends have a lovely, old, rambling house, the end of which has been turned into a small separate annexe. I am moving into there. I’ve also been given workshop space for the bike and all my tools and equipment, and an area to grow veg over the summer. It’s all rent free.

Sometimes I am moved to tears by the kindness and generosity of people.
