Question Suzuki sv650 2018 ( Brake pads replacement)

Hi guys,

I'm looking to change my brake pads in my Suzuki SV 650 2019. I have done 7600miles on them

I have 2 questions as it's my first big bike ( previously were riding chinese 125cc)

Where can I puchase OEM brake pads and is it worh it?

Which aftermarket brake pads would you recommend for SV?

Thank you for help.

I used EBC HH on my bikes. They worked very well. Beware of some brands you see on ebay like 'Gold' they have a poor reputation. I recommend looking on Wemoto.com if you're in the UK.

I am not a big name brand guy but when it comes to front brakes I only use quality stuff. Vesserah Galfer EBC Brembo or OEM even. You can find all of them online. Someone here probably has something they can help you with.

imo...when it comes to brakes, definitely go with a genuine well known brand, I'm a Brembo fan and always have been, never given me any reason to doubt the quality. If I haven't used Brembo I've used oem.

I was wondering that. Seems a little low unless there's another issue such as stuck or seized pistons.

Don't bother with sintered on the rear, ott really and it'll just lock the rear as it goes light.

Yes I'm based in Bristol.

brakes still have some live in them, but recently front seized while I was driving after previous emergency breaking , I had to drive 300yrds to closest safe place to stop. At first thought flat tire but when I stopped there was a lot smoke from front breakes. Luckly they fixed them selfes after few minutes and was able to drive but lost even more of pads because of it. In my estimate I can drive another 1000miles

Regards brake pads below is it good choice? Willl they fit? sorry im newbe in those sort of things

They look good to me but I've not double checked that they are the right part for your bike but EBC are fine.

Make sure the pistons in your calipers are moving freely. Give the lever a gentle squeeze to ensure they move out BUT not too much, you don't want to pop the pistons out, that will be pain to put them back in and involve bleeding the brakes. Do this one caliper at a time, leave the other in place.

The problem I found on my bikes is that the outside of the pistons get covered in crud and corrode restricting their movement. You have to keep them clean and covered in red grease to protect them.

Note the copperplate grease on the retaining pin. This too can corrode and become jammed.
