no pressure In rear brakes
I have an 06 sv650s. recently took the brakes off to give them a good clean and removed the pistons too. having put them back I primed and bleed the front brakes with no issues. however, the test brakes are turning into he'll for me!
I've bleed them for 3 days now and there is clear fluid with no air bubbles coming through however, upon pressing to brake lever I can see the piston move but it does not have enough force to come out enough and push the pads down, it does slow the wheel a little but I can still move the wheel with my hands when brakes are fully engaged. what did I do wrong? am I missing something, I did have the bleed a completely dry system. |

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
You could try taking the caliper off and elevating it a little and rotate it slightly so any air bubbles will find their way to the bleed nipple. Just put something between the pads so you don't pump the piston out too far.

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
if fitted check that the spring pad/retainer is the correct way round, its the metal u shaped thing with fingers that push down on the pads. the longer bars on the fingers should go on top of the piston side pads. if you dont do this then the shorter bars on the fingers will jam the brake pad.
i hope that you used RRG to assemble the pistons. |

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
For clarification, that's rectal rubbing grease.

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
It may help to bleed the rear master cylinder at the top banjo fitting. Air tends to gather at the top.

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
I specifically took a picture of it before I took it off and I'm almost certain it is the right way round

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
when the caliper is disconnected the piston pumps out all the way no issue. once I put the caliper and pads back on it refuses to pump out enough to actually stop the wheel. however, having said that it the piston does go back in a little too easy compared to before.

Re: no pressure In rear brakes
Press on the brake pedal, loosen the brake line fitting (banjo bolt) at the top of the master cylinder (air and fluid comes out), tighten the banjo bolt then release the pedal. Repeat a few times until the pedal becomes firm. Unfortunately, this is messy, brake fluid dribbles onto the swing arm and the rear wheel, dammit!
