Sv650s curvy speedo swap
Hi, just wondered if anyone had swapped a kph speedo to mph speedo on a 2002 Sv650s. This is what I have done so far, bike is a 2002 Sv650s originally from Germany. I have replaced the speedo with a mph unit from a UK bike, this made the speedo show 20mph when doing 40mph basically showing half the actual speed I am doing, then changed the magnetic rotor from an A unit to a B unit, still the same result. Do I need to replace the sensor that the magnet runs in as well?. Am I missing something else? Like the speedo needs to be calibrated to to rotor/sensor, if so how do I do this or who does it? Hopefully someone can help. Thanks for reading.

Re: Sv650s curvy speedo swap
Welcome.
As I understood it, there's only one rotor type for a curvy https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts...sk1suk1sk2suk2 (item 23A 34983-21E00). There is a different rotor for the later "pointys". Is there any chance that someone fitted a "healer" to make your km speedo read mph? This person seemed to have a similar issue and found a "black box" fitted in the cable loom: https://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=206237 there's a picture in post #7.

Re: Sv650s curvy speedo swap
Hi, thanks for the reply, I have tried it with both rotors, the B type was the original one and the A type was a replacement. When I ran the Kph speedo it read fast and only had the kph markings on the clock, (artly the reason for wanting an mph speedo), I will have a look at wiring loom to see if there is a corrector fitted. Worth a look.

Re: Sv650s curvy speedo swap
Hi, I did try the search first and it didn't find anything as specific as swapping speedos, drives etc, possibly me searching for the wrong thing. Thanks for the reply, it is appreciated.

Re: Sv650s curvy speedo swap
Hi, just a quick update on the speedo reading wrong, it did have a "healer" fitted in the loom between the connector for the speed sensor and the loom. Thanks for all the help.
