Same reason I'm not getting another diesel, even though my Zafira lasted 15 years, mine was the last of the simple ones, only the egr valve gave me any problems.

Modern diesels are horrendously complicated and that means less reliable and more expensive to fix than older ones. The dual mass flywheel is enough of reason to avoid diesel, but I have read that some petrol cars have them now -gawd knows why

Modern petrol engines will easily cover 200,000 miles with no drama anyway if they have regular oil changes.

I'd have gone for the petrol version of the Zafira if (a) I had the money to buy one - they were generally more expensive when I was looking, and (b) they weren't so thirsty. My diesel is now doing not far off 50mpg, the petrol ones do mostly 40 or less. I have limited means, currently!

Took the core out, a injected a bit of my gloopy mountain bike tubeless sealant, I'd bought it to try and run my road bike tyres tubeless, but this stuff was too thick and heavy for road tyres, so it'd been sitting unused.

Sprayed some soapy water on the rim and pumped the tyre back up. Sure enough, it's ****ing air out on one part of the rim, where it'd been kerbed by the previous owner.

However, 2 days later it looks like it's holding air better than before inserting the sealant.

No detrimental effect on wheel balance either. So we'll see how it holds up, but even if it slows the air loss a bit, I'll be happier.
A lot of alloys will corrode under the tyre bead and lose air even if not dinged - had it happen to me. Never had any problems with steel rims but alloys need refurb after as little as 4 years sometimes, expensive 5hite ....

I changed all the tyres on my alloys personally and had a good look at the beads. All were good and required no more than a very minimal clean before I put the new tyres on.

Not OCD mind, no definitely not or he'd have to have an odd number of pegs to get the jacket dead centre.

That actually does bug me. Every time I hang it up I have to think about which side it will over-hang on
