New clutch lifter fitted. Feels like new again.

Chain checked and adjusted (44,000 miles on it so far).

Front stop switch now on order. (are these really carp? I'm forever changing them. Usually every 2 years alternating with the rear one)

I don't suppose you chronicled the job?Reason I ask is I've just fitted a Wemoto ,"Slinky-Glide" clutch cable and noticed a little of slop in part 17 on here if that's what we are talking about,

https://www.suzukipartshouse.com/oem...8b51089/clutch

I've no problems at the moment but might some time fit a new one.

Also as far as Clutch Lever switches go the one on my 99 has been shorted/disabled before I got it.I did the same on my old Hondas and never missed them.

"Hammerite"?

Anyhoo. All my exposed metal parts/connectors/adjusters/electrical connections are treated with ACF50 and the bike is garaged so I rarely have a problem with corrosion

I've also keep the old one under the seat just in case as I had a clutch cable go years ago which nearly ruined a charity ride-out I was on

On a pointy at least, there's a curved metal guide on the lever end of the cable. It looks treated but in fact it rusts rather badly and in a short space of time.

I fixed mine with a lick of aforementioned paint. Then I crashed it into a minibus and that fixed it good and proper, I can tell you.

Ah!!
I know what you mean now.I will keep an eye on it

PS.

I know I have strong large hands for my height 5,10' and the manual work and daily exercise I've done over the years and even with the Arthritis in the index finger on my left hand I can change gear with one finger with a little effort. Two fingers and it's a breeze.Four and I can hardly feel I'm pulling the lever

Maybe they vary (or I have a delicate hands) but mine is stiff. It improved with a new lifter and a new cable but riding daily in heavy traffic caused pain in my left hand.

If you have an old Tennis ball use it as a hand excerciser. I do whilst watching TV.I couldn't find an old tennis ball so a while ago whilst I was in ASDA I found in their kids section a rubberised plastic ball about the same size as a tennis ball for about £1.50 I think and use that.

Trust me do this every night for a few mins with each hand for a couple of weeks and it will improve the ease of operating the clutch lever.

It's not always the bike that needs attention<grin>
