Default End can performance question

A few years back I had a Hornet 600 which was great, apart from a huge ugly end can. At the NEC show I bought an Art can for it which looked and sounded much better.

The only issue was that at low speeds the fuelling went from crisp to woolly although, to be fair, there was a noticeable difference at the top end.

I'm looking to replace the end can on the SV, and I'm wondering what effect on fuelling folk have noticed after fitting one - i don't want to spend cash on something that looks better but makes it worse to ride.

As for the Hornet, I ended up refitting the original back on (there was no cutting required ).

I think just about everyone replaces the end can on SVs with no adverse effects. Perhaps it rides better with the stock can but no-one remembers.

The SV isn't all that great at very low revs anyway - it's not happy until about 3k rpm anyway. Or maybe that's just mine, with its shiny noisy end can

Nope.My 1999 Curvy is exactly the same.I rarely let the Revs drop below 3,500 Rpm and try to stay highish even in Traffic. These aren't a,"Thumper" engine like my old Honda CX500s

Also my Cheap Chinaprovich Slip-on has had no noticeable effect to me on MPG or performance.

This exhaust sealant is the,"Dog's Danglies" for making a Gas-tight fit,

I used some of the info off this thread when I did mine

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=227836

but had to buy an extra 30 Deg bend pipe as my pipes didn't line-up/run parallel to the frame like I think the S versions or later models do.

With the Baffle in it's not too loud but just how I like it,

I think I must be in a very small minority, I actually like the stock can on my K6. Mind you, putting an SV1000 snorkel on the airbox made the overall sound snarlier

I didn't really mind the Stock sound too much but it was sooo.... quiet and my SV is sooo... smooth it was like riding a sewing machine.
Also I like to ride a lot of small country roads and because my bike was so quiet I could come upon walkers and Horse riders before they even knew there was a Motorcycle approaching.

Now they turn their heads and move out of the way in plenty of time

Any drop in low speed smoothness is minor, and more than made up for by the noise.

Do it.

I've tried 2 on my curvy, a Scorpion, which was a bit too loud and my current Fuel which is loud enough but in a pleasant way

+1 on the Fuel, loud but not overly so. Unless you take the baffles out of course. Mine is a K7 so no adverse affect.
