As asked for review of season 1 of Daredevil
Darren I see what you mean, throughout the entire season the main character Daredevil stays 1 dimensional and wooden, he gets in a fight starts off winning then starts to take a kicking then pulls it back for a victory at the end, every fight. the saving grace for the series is every and I mean every other character in the show grows and most become intriguing in their own ways. tbh take the daredevil out of the show and its very good, hopefully with some better writing they can save the main character in season 2

If you don't mind subtitles I've just watched The Eternal Zero - Japanese WW2 film. Absolutely stunning in every way.
It's why I put it on

Get on Up - a biopic of James Brown

Not a sensational blockbuster, but a good watch with good music.

Produced by Mick Jagger

Good kill: Ethan hawke stars, based on US drone strike. Doesn't put the US in a good light. Worth watching.

Pixels, my youngest wanted to see it, and on a wet bank holiday it was the perfect thing to do.

The reviews I'd heard, didn't rate it, but i had a perfectly enjoyable time. I didn't fall asleep at all, so thats a sign that it was ok.

Straight outta Compton.
Much better than I expected. Being white, middle class and British I could really identify with the characters.

Glad to hear that it fits my demographic too - my son is badgering me to go with him to see this - a thumbs up is encouraging

Entourage - If you liked the TV series you'll like the film, because it's exactly the same, lots of funny cameo appearances, my favourite being a rude Thierry Henry.

Rise of the planet of the apes - I didnt see the original tv series or any of the other films which helped as I dont think it has any connection to any of the others. The film played out like a cross between superman / marvel series type films. There is empathy towards James Franco's quest to find a solution to his fathers Alzheimers. Easy on the eye and reasonably fast paced. It is well shot and quite entertaining but dont expect any sense out of the storyline or a cerebral night in.
No quasi human ape type Helen bonham carter was a huge bonus
