How would it be if we the Police went back on our word, "Yes we will arrest and prosecute the NAMED suspect who robbed/raped/burgled/TWOC'd your car etc. Then a month later say "Ahh well yes we need to control public spending,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so now we're not going to bother".

I thought they did this anyway!

In my limited experience with the police, they seem pretty reluctant to give help and are often entirely disinterested in most matters. Of course they will do anything to avoid having to do paperwork.

Therefore in most cases, i probably will not bother to contact them, unless its essential. (Maybe thats their plan?)

In fairness i can only really criticise the Thames Valley police, as i have virtually no experience of the rest.
