Re: Triumph sprint st1050
Oil Burning does not sound good .... wonder if its a common problem ?
From what I've read the main downer is the triumph servicing costs , but do really fancy one , will see how the test ride goes Cheers Steveg

Re: Triumph sprint st1050
All engines burn oil but what do you consider excessive? My triple has 42K on the clock and uses about 250-350cc of oil every 5000 miles[top up from lower oil level to full] and the service costs like any bike, Honda,BMW,Dukes,Kwaks all fall into expensive main dealer service costs.
Every now and then you hear of a rogue bike and you only have to take a prolonged look at what has been posted over the years on here about SVs and other manufacturers to realise this. Have a test ride and get a cast iron warranty, even if it is only a dealers warranty. You will know within a 1000miles if you have a problem or not |

Re: Triumph sprint st1050
Well Steve I love mine, it's ace.
Not loving triumph ATM though, my rear pads wore out in 2500 miles and warped the rear disc in the process, they wouldn't replace under warranty, cost me £200. Gearbox can get a bit funny when hot, not as good as sv IMO. They do go like stink as well, will do a indicated 160 + mph, quite easy. Get one, you'll love it, £5k would get you a 06,07 wouldn't it ? |

Re: Triumph sprint st1050
Thanks for the replies , looking forward to trying a sprint , have riden a sprint rs which I liked so recon st1050 will be a good choice
Am feeling guilty about chopping in my sv as not missed a beat in 55k and never needed a drop of oil between services and only bike I've ever owned from new Cheers Steveg

Re: Triumph sprint st1050
Considering some horror stories you hear you are lucky. My SV had a few problems and I had it for two years from new.
p.s. hold on at 6000rpm Last edited by Dicky Ticker; 28-10-10 at 08:57 PM. |

Re: Triumph sprint st1050
Cracking bikes, comfortable and sure footed plenty quick enough; panniers are not as big as they look, don't take a full face helmet. The top box will, and it's possible to buy a bigger non Triumph one that will take two.
