Think I'm going to give it a miss. I do tend to agonise over stuff I know. I'll share my Kiev knowledge briefly though. They're a Zeiss Contax copy and share the same numbering for the older ones - a 2 has no meter, a 3 does, 2a and 3a are later with flash sync (PC) sockets. After that come a myriad of Kiev 4's. The earliest ones have a meter and an all-chrome self-timer lever. Later ones have some black on the lever, and may or may not have a meter. These are said to be badly made and unreliable, when the spares plundered from Zeiss ran out and the old workers were retiring. So the best models are up to about the 1960s, after that it's a bit of a lottery it seems. This is ironic as early Contaxes were often not working out of the box, as the factory workers made parts by hand and were paid for quantity - an overhaul has been described not as clean-lube-adjust but clean-fit-adjust-fit-adjust-fit-lube.

So, that's the kit, they're a bit of a fiddle to adjust the shutter speed, it's all knobs no levers (doesn't bother me), the way of holding it is quite unusual, and the shutter makes quite a THUNK, but that said the Sonnar/Jupiter lenses are supposed to be great, and the long RF base is a good asset. That and they would look great on a shelf, if that's your thing.

It came from Tiger. Yoko, do you want the battery cover for the XGM I sent you? Seeing as the X700 is up the spout I don't need it. Have transferred the lens and strap onto my XGM. Also bought two rolls of HP5 from Boots with their buy one get one half price deal.

Thanks Kenzie but you keep the battery cap. Might as well put the x700 back on the bay for spares and repair and you'll probably get back what you paid for it.
I bought the HP5 last time it was on offer - only to find out later normal price is a fiver a roll at WYC.

I did some charity shop rummaging yesterday but didn't find anything. I'm allergic to selling anything so it will sit in the "to be looked at pile" until I can figure out how to fix it. Working bodies are selling for £50+ at the moment.

Canon AE 1 anyone? 112470129568. Found a Coronet F-20 for a fiver in the reuse shop. Will work with either 120 or 620 film. Came with a 620 spool inside which is always handy. Dial 35 shutter is still sticky.

The shutter in the Canon Dial 35 seems to be behaving itself at the moment. Have run a test film through about fours times to exercise the shutter.

Finally got around to scanning some pics from the 1940s day in Tickhill. I had thought Max Spielman could scan negs but only in some branches and the rest have to send it off for 2 weeks so I just scanned some prints.

My scanner isn't bad but the glass is hazy and I can't get into it. Kenzie do you still have the 4400? What's it like? I've never scanned negatives, I guess you need at least 1200dpi or more like 2400?
