Hey folks, just to let you know I am still alive

Having fun, had a quick spin on the CB750 (slow) and the Goldwing (interesting because the front brake that was dodgy decided to go full on fscked and locked the front brakes on one disk just before home, so that ones out of action).

So off for a run up to Indianapolis tomorrow - should be about 6 to 8 hours riding

Hope you are all coping without me

I'm very jealous, seems like everyone is going on holidays lately!

Only kiddin, glad you're having a good time, mind that Goldwing though - sounds a bit scary!

Well went for the run on the CB750, did about 200 miles or so.

I can see why cruisers/customs are the norm here, the CB had a top speed of about 80mph (is a '81 model) and only 5 gears - but you just get it up to 5th and leave it there - they put recommended speed before most "tight" corners but pretty much ignorable on the CB - just stick to the speed limit of 55 and its no issue.

What was interesting is the "standard" riding position that I have seen most bikes take - about a foot from the centre line.

Riding on the left wasnt such an issue as I thought it would be either.

Some of the roads we were on would have been marvelous on a sportsbike, but the low speed limit and the fact that every road seemed to be "no ovetaking" would mean choices would have to be made - the roads are in fairly good condition, the corners not to sharp and the visibility due to lack of hedges etc would probably put the major roads- A road equivilent - somewhere between motorways and trackdays

PS - Oh yeah forgot to mention, managed to bin the CB about 10 miles from home as some lights (No one hurt, bikes ok)

Right-Left - you all knew what I was talking about.

As for what happened - just misjudged the amount of turn-in on the bike (which was wierd as I had been riding it for a couple of hours - think I had relaxed on it to the point of expecting it to be like my SV..... - so ended up losing balance, nothing too dramatic - was wearing apropriate gear so no hassles even tho I did go down on my left - the side with the broken collarbone.

Besides you havent really know a bike till you have picked it up off the road - hey Treacle, can I have a go on your ZX-10 down to Selkent on Wednesday??? :P

How long you away for? You touring?

Loads of questions on rental, insurance etc

My elder bro & his mates fancy touring the US and A next year. Figured I'd show them how to ride a bike properly ;o)
