2006 650s fuel pipe leak
Anyone else suffered with a petrol leak when the pumps running which I think is from the fuel pipe to tank connection? Ive heard of it in other Suzukis and it comes and goes as it happens after being left for a while and then appears to be self sealing especially if the connector is moved......

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
Not suffered from it on this bike but I just measured the Internal diameter of pipes on my old Hondas and bought some fuel pipe of eBay years ago and made my own.Worth while fitting and in-line filter whilst you are on the job

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
if its the quick connect then its more that likely the oring. just disconnect it and smear a bit of RRG on the oring then connect it back together. there are two tangs/tabs that you have to push in to separate the two halves of the connector.

Most O-rings are just that.
I have a box of them and I bet there's one in there I could use, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225Pc-Rub...AAAOSwEu9bK768 There's several that work in places on my old Hondas like the Metal Coolant pipes. HTH

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
if you buy an oring its specified as a size.. you should receive that size. some places only sell certain sizes so you have to shop around for the EXACT size.
simplybearings is a good supplier of them. no they are not a standard on all bikes.. that would be silly. they are designed to reflect certain fitments/uses and can be made of different materials for that fitment/use. however most of the time its just a seal so near enough is good enough. |

I've sometimes found the dimensions of the O-rings on the Partsfiche then found them cheaper on eBay

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
btw.. you cant take a size from an old in use oring as they are usually designed to "crush" to fit so over time they distort from their original size.

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
Good point.They are usually out-of-dimension.

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
thanks for the replies and yes I believe its coming from the quick connector but only intermittently. I didnt realise it was an o ring inside as it looked like a custom component but I suppose I should have tried to pull it out for a look. However instead I wrapped the metal inlet pipe in a couple of layers of PTFE tape and that has definitely tightened up the fit but will it give me other problems in the future.......

Re: 2006 650s fuel pipe leak
dont put tape of any kind on the spigot, if tape comes off into the fuel supply it can block the supply or worse the injector. just make sure the spigot is clean and the retaining clip is in place properly.
