New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
At some point in the near future I will be replacing the chain and sprockets on my 1999,"Curvy".
Although the present sprockets look good the chain is near the end of it's life e.g it's only has one marker left on the adjuster. I know the normal ratios are 14/44 and the ,"S"models are 15/44.I've done my research so I just want to confirm that I can fit an,"S" kit to lower the revs a little as I don't need the,"Nippier" speed of the Stock X of my SV650. If I am correct will this kit be the one, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...cAAOSwYHxWJvDk

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
I think the standard gearing is 15/44 S model with 108 link chain and
15/45 naked with 110 link chain. Others wiser on here might be able to advise better but i've got a 99 naked & changed to the standard last year & it seems fine. check this site http://www.gearingcommander.com// it tells you everything down to the smallest detail, you can play with the ratios & see the difference it makes |

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
Thanks.I think you are right.I got the numbers a little off but I think the link I posted was the correct one to lower the revs?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...cAAOSwYHxWJvDk I've just looked in my manual. SV650 110 links 15T front sprocket/Rear 45T SV650s 108 links 15T front Sprocket/Rear 44T.

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
If you're bike is a naked then I think the chain is wrong, the kit states "108",i'm sure you will still need a 110 link chain, remember seeing something about the naked swing arm being different?
My bike seemed livelier with the original gearing being fitted back on,it had the 44 rear sprocket before but could be just my imagination |

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
I had a naked curvy and when i replaced the original c&s I put on an s version for the taller gearing. It was fine, but you do notice the lack of ooomph under certain conditions. On balance,Id stick with the standard set.

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
It had crossed my mind that I would have to declare the change as a ,"Mod" to the insurance companies.
I suspect it will just be easier to stick with the Stock kit.For the kind of riding I will be doing the engine/bike will not be getting thrashed as I rarely break speed limits but I do like to ride at the speed limit plus V.A.T sometimes Anyone got any mileages on well looked after chain life? Just to confirm: This is the kit I need? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV6...oAAOSwopRYiedf

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
I always had the S version of my SV's, so had the taller gearing. You'll also get slightly better MPG with the taller gearing but probably not much. If you're mainly using the bike fit urban work then stick with standard.

Re: New Chain/Sprocket question/confirmation
It says 45 tooth rear, so yes for a naked.
