Default Newby needing buying opionions please!!

Hi, I'm new to the SV site - it looks pretty good!

iIm on the verge of buying an SV as my first bike and was wondering what people though of the deal I have been offered by a friend....

Black SV 650 S, 54-reg, registered October 2004, has crash bungs on the fairing, data tool system 3 alarm, baglux tank cover and bag, bike cover, disc lock, chain, 8000 miles, and is in prestine condition.

The bike is £3000 if I want it.

What do you think...?

Thanks

Never pay the asking price. From your description the bike sounds ok but always bear in mind that it may shortly need some or all of the following----
A service,tyres ,brake pads,chain and sprockets.That lot could cost £600.
Also can you still not buy a new one for about a grand more?At this time of year bike prices drop, new and old,so drive a hard bargain.

Thanks.

its just had a new back tyre and is gonna be serviced before I get it so the oil/filter/coolent/brake fluid will be changed as well as having the throttle bodies balanced?

it's not been abused so is it likely to need a new chain and sprockets so early on??

i don't really wanna buy a spanking brand new bike (just incase i bin it bein the novice that i am), the ones i've seen are about £4.700 new so a bit out of my budget.
