Official AR06 Campsite.
So the camp site for AR06 has been selected. The question now is how many people are going to use this camp site? I have entered a poll (yes, another one ).
The poll is for a head count. Please only enter when you have actually booked. The vote is simple, vote for the number of people you have booked in. If you have booked for more than 5 people then let me know before you vote and I will add the necessary to the poll. The details of the camp site are as follows: The Old Swan Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury. 01743 850750 Open 7 days a week, lunchtime catering 12-2, evening catering 6-9.30, Sunday Carvery. Also Bed and Breakfast Function room If people state when they have booked up and for which nights I will continuously edit this entry with the details. Hopefully this will mean that anyone looking for an update will only have to look at this first thread. That's what it says on the business card. I didn't actually ask as camping was my main interest. Here's a scan of the card.
Just found this http://www.farmhousebedandbreakfast....tm#SHREWSBURY2 http://www.virtual-shropshire.co.uk/cardeston/ http://www.brimford.co.uk/location.html

The B&Bs - I've never stayed in any of them but from the road Brimford (next door to the Admiral Rodney at Criggion - it's in Wales BTW, some locals speak Welsh as a first language) looks nice. Pub is biker friendly, it's small and it's so busy that sometimes in summer you can't get in the door. So you might have drunken bikers keeping you awake Fitz Manor is beautiful. Really really nice. Fitz is about 2 miles from the Old Swan, Brimford a bit further, possibly 5 or 6.
I don't know the others so can't offer an opinion. |

I was passing through Montford Bridge today, I was going to inspect a boundary dispute out the back of beyond so I had the digi with me. John gave me the idea last Monday of taking a few pics and posting em on here, so here are a few shots of the campsite and the pub. Do remember that (a) it's February and (b) it had just stopped snowing and the freezing rain had started and (c) it was very grey and overcast and (d) it was damn cold!!!!
The River Severn at Montford Bridge (looking upstream). The bridge you can see is the new A5 crossing the river, but it's far enough away not to be a problem: The campsite from the (old) bridge. The pub is behind the bushes on the left. You can see the car park too - it's hard surfaced and huge: The Old Swan pub: The bridge from the campsite: Looking across the field from just behind the pub, towards the river: |
