Just a little message to pass on to you organs who wondered how the legend that is Jayneflakes is doing

If anyone ever asks after me, do send them my regards and tell them that I said that all curvies (except yours of course) are rubbish! I include the new SV in with this, which is clearly also a curvy... Boo hiss!

I miss the motorcycle-maintenance-In-a-ballgown videos, the amazing Lego creations, the recumbent bicycle build threads and the swearing.

Hello folks,

sorry that I have not been about much, life has been running away with me again and I have been dragged off in other areas.

Most recently my Lego obsession has turned into a community project and I have been able to volunteer one hour a week with a children's group organised by a local business woman. Turning up on my bike, in full leathers (and the very rude patch on my jacket!) created some amused looks, but I knew that I had over stepped the mark when I taught one of the kids how to make a working Lego bullpup shot gun! It fired Lego darts, but the kids loved it (unlike the parents, who looked at me like they had just stepped in something!).

My current project is a five foot long tank transporter with full IR controls, working winch, working lights and detachable trailer. The truck has all wheel drive with front four wheel steering and working suspension. The frailer has twelve wheels doubled up on six axles with virtual pivot point suspension, winch and powered ramp.

Sat on the trailer is a Self Propelled gun, with full IR controls, self loading working cannon and a very simple form of suspension. I recently rediscovered fun snaps, those little paper wrapped crystals that go bang when you drop them on the floor. Anyway, when placed in the breech of the cannon and firing pin is released they go bang in a most satisfying way. This is why the children's group loves me so much, I am a ma-hooosive nerd.

The last truck I built for them to play with was a flat bed artic that was fully powered and could connect and disconnect from the trailer by itself. Again, it was a total nerdgasm.

As for Sylvie, that is not such great news. Arthritis is making it increasingly painful to ride and let us be honest, being distracted by pain is probably not the best plan when riding, what is in effect a massive and dangerous toy, on our busy roads. For the last few weeks, my bike has been either SORNed or just not ridden and my health has generally been a bit rubbish of late, but this does not stop me from wanting to ride or actually doing so when I can.

It has been so long since I took her for a good blast that the spark plugs rusted and the battery went flat. Thankfully I have a newly weather proofed garage and a set of paddock stands that she sits on most of the time.

What is nice though is that I have had some lovely and encouraging messages from Geo every now and again and he has reminded me that there is a world outside of Lego.

Bless you and yeah arthritis is a bit pants, but this is entirely self inflicted due to a career of climbing and mountain biking. I cannot say that I was not warned!

Really enjoyed Technical Lego when I was growing up - bit more basic than the Technics stuff you make such a good job with Jayne. See the first two on this link - I had both the tractor (851) and forklift (850). Happy days.
