Ron Haslam Race School.
I'm off to this tomorrow to scream around a track on a CBR600RR as a birthday treat to myself.
Anyone been on this and is it any good? I'm just happy about the fact I can bin it and it'll cost me nothing extra!! Wish me luck! Regards Phil

Re: Ron Haslam Race School.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it, just gotta remember to save the crashing for the 3rd session!!!
The school also gives me a chance to have a hoon around on my next big purchase!

Re: Ron Haslam Race School.
Been there 3 weeks ago and was lucky enough to get Guy Martin as my instructor
been warned though the attitude toward binning bikes have change since last year when I first went. Last year they seemed mor laid back about it but if its deemed that you are pushing yourself in the 2nd session to a dangerous extent you will not be out in the 3rd and they are frowning big style on those who ride over their limit and bin the bike and the indemity forms has all changed. If you're looking for how to ride the track smoothly and like the pros and are prepared to listen to constructive criticism and put it into place then you love it. If you are looking for a track day where you can blast round for som long without anyone watching how you ride you'll hate it. they want you to learn from the experience and take something away from the day rather than just a big smile. Also i'm not sure leon will be there due to the BSB being in Glasgow this weekend which is a shame there nothing like being on the track when ron and leon are going head to head down the straight. |

Re: Ron Haslam Race School.
you will more than likley see our site engineer up there - john lydamore, he's probably the one in scuffed leather as he used to ride superstock 1000 till he destroyed his bike... again..

Re: Ron Haslam Race School.
Yeah, I know you can't give it any real beans till the final session and I'm prepared to learn so that's cool.
Have also been told that if you bin it and the bike is ok you can get back on and carry on. The biggest thing is the fact that IF I bin it, the leathers, helmet, boots and bike aren't mine!! The indemnity form only covers injury to myself and my belongings. Doesn't mention anything about their stuff!! I am going there to learn how to ride on a track and as such am happy taking it at whatever pace they deem necessary but I will probably be told off during the last session!!! LOL

Re: Ron Haslam Race School.
I doubt you'll get told off as long as you ain't dangerous but invariably if you do crash on the third session they don't give you another bike which i've seen during the 2nd seesion.
But I know what you mean re the gear. I was the same but the guys pride themselves on having a clear day without accidents and I doubt that you will bin it. The first session is a sighting lesson then back for how to sit and move around on the bike - back out for your 2nd session then a talk on how to ride the corners smooth then 3rd session and then de brief - hope you get Andy Muggleton as instructor - he's really good and quick. I had both for the day but Indy Photo got the one to one tuition with Guy on the third session - and although I was going well He over took me three times so stay afe and you'll be fine Don't bother looking at the speedo though - it covered up! |

Re: Ron Haslam Race School.
Been twice - On track last year and then watched the rest of the day as DD was doing the premier and the premier 3 weeks ago. Wouldn't go anywhere else and can't recommned it high enough.
Saving up for going back next year - dependent on circuit construction obviously will need to wait for the dates to be confirmed at Christmas you'll love it - its a great day! then for a great dinner go to the Bull and Swan in Diseworth (turn right out of the circuit and the first left signposted diseworth follow the road and its on the corner just past the 30 - great pub grib and ale and great staff! and i'm not on comission) |
