Win 7 support ends tomorrow Jan 14 - SV650.org

I have a couple of laptops - an old Toshiba Satellite, which I like, running Win 7 and a new Lenovo S330, which I don't like, running Win 10.

The Tosh has an SSD, a new big battery, a 5Ghz wifi adaptor, boots fast and is reliable - it's 8 or 9 years old. It won't support Win10 because of issues with touch pad (mainly). I've tried Ubuntu which was a bit clunky for my tastes so I'll try Xubuntu which is a bit more polished (I'm told). Anyone else still running Win 7 - do you have any plans to switch OS?

I tried running Ubuntu for a while when the hdd on my pc packed up. Was ok for surfing, emails and some Steam games, but always had problems running some Windows programs via wine. Gave up and reinstalled Win10 on a new drive.

I thought the free Win10 upgrade path had ended but there still ways to do it: https://tinyurl.com/wx7hcoz
(Microsoft Win10 site). I thought it would need my Win7 key which has rubbed off the label on the base of the laptop so I used a reveal program to find it but didn't need it. It went ahead and loaded Win10 and my laptop seems ok although a bit slower than on Win7, it did reject one of my network drivers but I use a 5Ghz usb wifi adaptor and it works fine.
