The patent, if anyone is interested, is a Zeiss Ikon Contarex

I added a 1975 Kiev 4 AM to the collection. Slight bit of fungus in the lens but not too bad. It was sold as spares or repair as while it has a rangefinder patch, the split image isn't working. Would suggest that the mechanism is stuck or broken. Shutter sticks at anything below 1/125.

Nice, I guess you'll have to do something to it. If it fires at higher speeds then it's basically working. I'm unfamiliar with the timing mechanisms but there is a LOT of info out there about Contaxes and Kievs. Hopefully the RF can be brought back to life. Worst case for £20 you could get a new lens. What do you think now it's in your hands? They are said to be a bit tricky to hold.

PS thought it was a Contarex. The quote is better than it could have been: "expose yourself to the darkness", or perhaps "be at one with the shadows". Maybe that's just me...

It's heavy! But not as big as I was expecting, bit squared off but not too bad. The shutter is quiet but makes a rather disappointing noise. The "Contax hold" might take some getting used to though. I didn't realise at the time but the take up spool is missing, but luckily I devved some film recently so I have a spool but it means I have to tape the film on.

Just ordered some light seals for the OM1, some of the shots I scanned from the film I found inside are showing signs of a light leak. My guess is the film door hinge.
