Bike prices
Local dealer down the road:
K5 SVs with fairing lowers, black, 3000 miles. £4095 Not cheap, but suppose dealers have to make a profit on 2nd hand bikes... but then a few bikes along from it: K1 R1, great condition, red and black, akrapovic pipe and a few other bits, 20000 miles £4195. If anyone has a 2000 R1 in good condition with about 25000 miles on it, I'll do a straight swap with you for my K4 SVs |

That price for the SV is just nuts. Though for some reason, used SVS from dealers do seem to fetch absurd prices. I saw a fairly crash-damaged silver curvy, fully faired, but with scratches all down the RHS and a damaged end can, and an obviously bent front subframe, 15,000 miles, sell for £2750 a while back

Yeah, I got my SV privately in summer last year for 3100, dealers were asking so much for them at the time it wasn't an option to go to a dealer.
The man from Bennetts, he say £193.71 3pft with a £450 excess for the R1. That's less than I currently pay for the SV (apart from the compulsory £450 excess) It's a conspiracy against SV owners! Uh-oh... |

It is high, but you have to remember that Black K5's sold out midway through last year. This years colours dont include black for the 650 so I expect the dealer has loaded the price to reflect this.
I like Northwind have seen Curveys going for silly money. Also remember what the dealer puts on the screen isnt always what you'll pay for the bike, you have to haggle to get the best deal.

I'm considering exporting bikes to South Africa. They pay silly money for them there. My mate thinks that you can buy an SV for about £6'500 UK pounds once you've done the exchange rate conversion. You'd have to pay shipping/handling and insurance but still, could be worth thinking about. Not sure of the legalities behind all this of course. I doubt veyr much that it's simple and our government would want a fair wedge of the money for doing f*ck all (as usual).
