Avoid that version of the Minolta 35-70. It's not supposed to be one of their best. I'm tempted by the 28mm f2.8. Om Zuiko 75-150 looks like a steal too. Gets good reviews

I have that Olympus lens. I had to strip it down and clean it but it appears to be a good performer, shame it picked up a dent in the post. Very compact and light.

I got the X700 unjammed again, but not had any joy fixing the sticking curtain yet. Edit, might be in luck. Just need to cycle the shutter to make sure it works well.

So what is different about the Rokkor lenses Yoko? I have popped the one off the XG-E and plonked it on the X700. It doesn't have the option for auto mode I guess.

I'm no way an expert on the lenses. Rokkorfiles is your place to go. That the Rokkors came before the MDs and that some may be better and others not is about as far as I go.
But you're right about the X700. For program mode, a lens has to have an auto function, usually indicated by a green f16 or f22 and maybe the exposure lock tab. Third party lenses with a green f stop number also work. I've a Tokina zoom which can be used in program mode.

Well if I am reading it properly the lens is a Mk1 Rokkor MD and has a green 16 so can be used in program mode.

I think that lens should work. Does the viewfinder show program mode when you attach it?

The P wouldn't light up or would blink if the lens wasn't compatible. It should be OK to use on program
