UK Top 10 Stolen Bikes

I saw this posted on the YZF600R forum a month or so ago.

Figured I would post and ask here since many of you are from the UK.

Is there any reason stolen vehicles seem to be such a common thing over there?

I have heard that many many people use steering wheel locks in their cars.

Vehicle theft obviously happens everywhere it just seems like I hear a lot about the difficulty people have with it in the UK.


Just looking for some insight for a curious mind.

Lack of deterrent is one major problem. Bike theft will more than likely get a night in the cells and £200 fine these days before they let them back out to get on with their thieving ways. It'll take at least 3-4 times of being caught before they might get some sort of custodial sentence.
If however the government decided to take up my approach, there would be much less in the way of theft. Anyone caught stealing anything will have their hands chopped off with an old rusty axe.

I've never had an issue and I live in what insurance companies call a high risk area, if you leave your vehicle vonerable then someone may take advantage of that.

Interesting list, it's not my first thoughts! My old mans got the thunder cat so he'll be informed but most likely it'll me who "steals" it I've had my eye on it for years lol

interesting list. i knew the 675 would be pretty high up but i was expecting a ducati to appear on there somewhere, also why are harleys never highy rated for thefts, they are nearly always wrapped in chrome screaming eagle parts and as they have a relatively high re-sale value i'd expect to see more of them targeted. maybe we all need to start riding harleys lol :P
